Marken Michel, a wide receiver who played two seasons with the UMass football team before leaving the program last spring, is considering a return to Amherst, according to three different sources.
Michel has not officially made his intentions known, yet. However, one source indicated that he may be back as soon as this coming semester.
The Plantation, Fla. product played in six games during the 2012 season and had 28 catches for 229 yards. He also returned nine kickoffs for 145 yards.
Last spring, there was some scuttlebutt surrounding Michel's departure. Two different sources had indicated that foul play may have been a factor in Michel's decision to leave UMass, but neither would expand on "the situation due to the serious nature of the allegations."
Most of the smoke surrounding the situation had to do with Marken's brother, Sony, a five-star running back. Both sources, who could not be reached for comment yesterday, had indicated that a BCS-level school may have been impermissibly reaching out to Marken in hopes of enticing Sony.
Those who spoke of Michel's intentions to return had no comment on that situation.
